Lora Heiner is the founder and owner of Inhale Yoga & Fitness. She is an E-RYT500/E-RYT200 yoga instructor with over 4500 hours of teaching experience. Lora is a former corporate scientist who led teams in drug discovery research in San Diego for over 15 years. After her introduction to yoga in 2009, Lora realized her true calling was to share yoga within her community and completed her 200 hr certification, and then furthered her education with an additional 100 hour immersion in 2012 and completed her 500 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in 2013 2013. Lora has studied with many varied and respected teachers in the lineages of Hatha Yoga including Anusara, Vinyasa Flow, Vedanta, Kashmir Shaivism and Tantra. As the former Lead Teacher for Yoga Six, Lora's primary role was the recruitment and continued mentoring of teachers. She has lead numerous 200 & 500 hr teacher trainings both in the US and in India. In 2016 Lora sustained devastating hip injuries due to repetitive motion in yoga and has undergone bilateral hip arthroscopy to repair her hip capsules. These events re-ignited Lora’s interest in biomechanics and kinesiology, resulting in a migration of her teaching techniques towards more anatomically sound and functionally useful movements including multi planar movements and less end range motion as yoga asana tends to hover around. She is inspired by the works of Dr. Stuart McGill, and movement specialists Ido Portal, Dr. Andrea Spina and Katy Bowman. Lora's unique background as a molecular biologist, personal trainer, athlete and yoga teacher allows her to weave anatomy, physiology and yoga philosophy skillfully into her classes. Lora’s classes span the range from vigorous to restorative, while always maintaining an emphasis on breath and alignment. Her goal is to encourage students to deepen their practice in a safe and compassionate environment while maintaining their sense of humor. During her free time, Lora loves to be active; she is a black belt in Tae-Kwon Do, an avid fly-fisherwoman, sport climber, novice surfer, and passionate downhill skier.
